Explore the Cornerstone of Ireland’s Ancient East

An age-old gateway into Ireland, County Wexford is steeped in history dating back to the Stone Age over 6,000 years ago.  Known as the ‘Cornerstone of Ireland’s Ancient East’, just a couple of the stories found here include; 800 years of light-keeping at the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, Hook Lighthouse; the Norman Way which explores the Norman way of life via a trail of authentic medieval ruins across the south coast of the county; and much, much more across this ancient battle-worn and exciting corner of Ireland.

Wexford is also a top holiday destination for Irish people within Ireland and thousands visit the county for the 270km of coastline and host of festivals every year. The most globally renowned of these festivals is the Wexford Festival Opera based in Ireland’s National Opera House which is located in Wexford.
